Aiding and Abetting

When charged with aiding and abetting or accessory, the person was not usually present at time of crime but had for seeable knowledge that the crime was to be committed and assisted with this crime whether through advice, actions or financial support. Punishment will depend on the degree of involvement in the participation of the crime.

If any steps were taken  in committing a crime, whether the crime was committed or not, someone can be charged with conspiracy to commit the crime regardless of whether that a crime actually was completed.

Crimes fall in different categories under the laws of New York and are subject to certain guidelines when it comes to sentencing depending on the nature and circumstances of the crime. See New York's sentencing guideline.
